Sr. Advocate MK Mishra elected new BCI Chairman

The Bar Council of India (BCI) at its meeting held on April 15 last has unanimously elected Senior Advocate Manan Kumar Mishra as the new Chairman of the council.
A press statement released by the regulatory body stated that Mishra, a practicing senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India and the Patna High Court, has been unanimously elected the new chairman of BCI. He succeeds senior counsel Ashok Parija.
Senior Advocate Zafar Ahmed Khan from Madhya Pradesh was also unanimously elected the Vice-chairman of BCI Khan who has been a former Additional Advocate General of Madhya Pradesh is practicing in High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Indore.
The Bar Council of India enacted under the Advocates Act 1961 is the supreme regulatory body to regulate the legal profession in India and also to ensure the compliance of the laws and maintenance of professional standards by the legal profession in the country. For this purpose, the BCI is authorized to pass regulations and make orders in individual cases.
